Sunflower Massage - What To Expect

WILL MY CHILD BE AFRAID OR SCARED OF THE ROOM?

The answer is NO - the room does not look or smell like a doctor's office, nor does it give that appeal. The last thing that we want to do is to have you or your Sunflower Child think and feel that this is another "medical appointment" in a brightly lit disconnected room.

In fact, the room is dimly lit with fairy lights, ceiling projectors, a Himalayan lamp and a small table side lamp. The smells and sounds are soothing, warm and inviting to the senses and help both you and your Sunflower Child be more at ease, peace, comfortable and safe.

WILL I NEED TO REMAIN IN THE ROOM THE ENTIRE TIME?

The answer is YES - it is VERY important for your Sunflower Child to feel safe and know that you are there in case they need you and/or they might be shy, unfamiliar and/or are only comfortable communicating with you. It is also vital and mandatory that the parent/legal guardian remain in the room during the entire session if the Sunflower Child is under the age of 18. We want your Sunflower Child to feel and be safe as we know you want them to also feel and be safe at all times. Also, if we have questions during your Sunflower Child's session, we are able to ask you directly.

DO I NEED TO SIGN OFF ON ANY FORMS OR CONSCENT FOR TREATMENT?

The answer is YES - either the parent/legal guardian must read and sign off on all intake and minor consent forms for treatment. Only the parent/legal guardian can accompany the Sunflower Child on their appointment and only the parent/legal guardian can stay with the child during their session. No Exceptions.

DOES MY CHILD NEED TO GET UNDRESSED FOR THEIR SESSION?

The answer is both YES and NO - it all depends on what the session entails. If the Sunflower Child does not like to disrobe or like the feel of oil or lotion on their skin or is simply uncomfortable removing their clothing, then the answer is no. With that being stated - the therapist will do their best to address the area(s) of concern with the child's clothing on them - if they are wearing 2 layers of clothing - the therapist will request that the thickest/heaviest layer be removed so as we can address the areas of concern on your child. If a Sunflower Child does not mind removing their clothing for their session, then the therapist will be able to address the area(s) of concern. All children who undress for treatment will need to lay on our tables and go underneath the sheets. Our tables are warm, cozy and very comfortable (if they prefer the heat off we can turn the heat off on the table). The only areas of the body that will ever be exposed are the areas that the therapist works on. IF the Sunflower Child prefers to have their clothing on, they might not have to lay o the table or go underneath the sheets, they might be able to sit on the table for their session. Either way, your child's session will be relaxing, soothing, comfortable and they will enjoy it! It will always be to their and your comfort level.

HOW WOULD I  KNOW WHICH LENGTH OF SESSION TIME TO BOOK FOR MY CHILD?

That is very difficult to answer for each Sunflower Child is uniquely different with what they need and what they might be able to tolerate. We have implemented session lengths depending on the child's age - BUT we will always accommodate... we only want the best for your Sunflower Child and would never want to cause uneasiness or unwanted stress. Our recommendation would be to book the least lengthy session first to see how your Sunflower Child feels and if they are able to tolerate the time and the session, we can continue to work with that until they are ready for a longer session if required, BUT do not worry, if your Sunflower Child is not able to tolerate a longer session, that is okay, we will work with them at their level and what they need. We will never force your child to take on a longer session if they are not able to or simply do not want to.
